From suffering, beauty is born.

A truly noble human being needs no external moral justification for his or her actions.
@6 days agoIsn’t part of being an adult recognizing that other people don’t owe you a damn thing, that you aren’t entitled to anything you don’t work or fight for, and that your problems and your personal drama are of no consequence to anybody but yourself?

Except the fact that not all vegetarians are skinner OR healthier. See: Victoria getting thrush from lack of nutrients. Or that fact that I am skinnier than any vegetarian I personally know. And “everything” causes cancer. Keep eating your fake food and not taking vitamins or exercising.
1) Studies show that some plants do too. What happens if they prove definitively that plants are sentient?
2) Really? Have you spoken at length with the animals? Do they even have a conception of freedom?
3) Meat isn’t. Large industrial farms are.
4) Moral absolutism is for children.
5 and 6) Think of it as nature’s built-in population control.
7) I met a vegetarian once who ate nothing but french fries for several months. He ended up getting gout.
8) Several things - I’ve seen some pretty fat vegetarians in my day. Not everybody was born with the capacity to be supermodel thin. And as for living longer - it’s better for the environment that humans not be here. Just sayin’.
9) So can being a self-righteous, pompous asshole that thinks they know what’s best for the world.
10) Unless they’re on the Atkins diet.

I am officially tired of hearing about same-sex marriage. Don’t get me wrong -I have absolutely no problem with people being attracted to members of their own sex (Personally, I believe that everyone is. To varying degrees, of course). Homosexuality isn’t a choice any more than heterosexuality is. And I have absolutely no problem if two people of the same sex fall in love with one another and decide that they’re ready to commit to one another, hold a lavish and expensive ceremony, and share their lives together in matrimonial bliss. Love is the most amazing and wonderful thing that human beings are capable of, and while the whole business of marriage seems like a whole lot of hollow and empty symbolism to me, it’s important for others, so I’ll hold my tongue and spare everyone that little tirade.
I’m sick of hearing about same-sex marriage because, as an ardent believer in the separation of church and state, I don’t really think that our government really has any business sticking its nose in marriage to begin with. In fact, I’ll go so far as to say that there should not be any such thing as a legally recognized marriage. Marriage is supposed to be the holy union of two people before whatever spiritual entity or force they believe in. What business does the State have sanctioning this? Let religious institutions marry whomever the fuck they want. Two people who are in love with one another, no matter what genitalia they possess, are not debasing and degrading marriage. Do you know what is? Fuckers who get married because they want tax breaks and special privileges from the fucking State. Keep the government the hell out of marriage. No more tax breaks. No more special privileges. No more State-authorized perks.
Seriously, this whole thing is a divisive non-issue fabricated by the people in power to distract us from the real problems we’re facing. Lest we forget, our economy is still in the shitter. How about we concentrate on that?
